The Spiderwick Chronicles leave the old-fashioned charm of New England far behind and head south for some fiendish faerie fun in the hot Florida sun.
Eleven-year-old Nicholas Vargas only thinks his life has been turned upside down after his developer father remarries and moves his new wife and daughter into the soon-to-be completed Mangrove Hollow. The Spiderwick Chronicles have flown south, but even the hot Florida sun has dulled the mysterious little creatures that bedevil the unsuspecting. This case involves a beguiling water creature, a pack of fire-breathing giants, and Nicholas Vargas, a preteen boy with problems of his own.
Again, a lot of flirty attraction, but no action.
Anyway, five guys on a cave exploring expedition, go through some kind of time warp which puts them into a comatose sleep for 50 years. The ending is anticlimactic, abrupt and inconclusive, setting up for the next book. Lots I repeat.. This story went all over the place with a mixture of too much going on and nothing happening all at the same time. Teaser info on a few characters..

Like I said, all over the place. I have zero interest to continue. Poor execution but 2 stars for effort and good writing. One person found this helpful.
- Beyond the Night: Envy Chronicles Book 1.
- Au secours, Jexiste ! (FICTION) (French Edition)!
- Humour (An Anthology of Poetry Book 1)?
I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy books. Plain romance books generally bore me, but science fiction and fantasy requires the Author to create an entire new reality; which for me, makes reading much more interesting. If there's romance in my sci-fi or fantasy, so much the better.https://senwindmasjuto.ga
Beyond the Deepwoods
If you feel the same, then this might be a good series starter for you as well. There are 5 hunky men who were in some sort of stasis for 50 years, during which mankind and the planet was apparently decimated. Add to that premise--the men seem to have acquired some strange abilities.
This story was about Elliot, but the rest of the series will probably feature the other men of the group. The plot will will carry through the following books, as this one just resolved Elliot and Jade's HEA. It wasn't perfect. The apocalypse wasn't always treated in a logical manner; science was kind of an afterthought. The Paranormal aspects seemed to be added to explain what science didn't.
The romance was almost ridiculous, as the pair fell in love in less than 3 days.
When they finally had sex which seemed like forever, because there was a lot of action going on in those three days , they had it while there was a bloody, dead body in Elliot's tub. Insensitive much? But through it all, I remained interested because of the World and the characters. I will likely continue the series. I don't read a lot of dystopian fantasy, but I really enjoyed this.
The Nixie's Song: Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles, Book 1 Book Review
The world building was strong and complex. There are zombie slaves, evil illuminati-style bad guys, power giving crystals, and heroes with strange super-powers. The bad part - insta-love wasn't credible.
- BE THE FIRST TO KNOW.

But beyond sexual chemistry, I couldn't see how they could actually have fallen in love over the course of 5 days. The sex scenes were skippable, but there weren't that many of them so it wasn't a problem. I though the author did a good job of laying out a big quest, and finishing up a piece of the journey so that this was a complete read and not a cliffie.
I'm off to read the next one. This is a time-travel dystopian read that had unrealized potential. Since it is set fifty years in the future, I had expected much more than the reality the author created. I downloaded this in early and have started and stopped reading it twice.
